This weeks blogpost will handle about Latex and how we like to shoot it. We all know about Latex and how it quickly gets associated with not the right images and mood.
If i'm shooting latex, with a big thank you to the people at Westward Bound, in a fashionable -beauty way we are not going for the flat images, but we try to put something extra in it, be creative. Play with lights, play with makeup, hair, mood, scenes etc.
For this shooting we decided to go with some extreme hairstyles and makeup. This would compliment the latex and the mood of the images. Below you can see an image with some extreme makeup, not the makeup you would go for on a daily basis. We wanted something more futuristic.
Styling is an important part of the shoot. If we take the image below, without those shoes, but regular pumps, the feeling from this image would have been totally different. Luckily the model we casted had a lot of experience with latex and had the necesarry accesoires to go with it.
Another look we did on another backdrop. Something to keep in mind when shooting latex, it reflects, so choosing the right light modifier is an important part of the action.
You want reflections on the right places. Latex has to shine, so it will reflect light on a nice way. For that you can buy special sprays in stores.
The above images where shot with the same light modifier. For those two we used a striplight 130x50cm with a grid on it to bundle the light. The light did not move in this shots, but I did to change my angle towards the light and model.
And as a final setup we had a latex catsuit.
The makeup artist Eline Van Gils did something special with the hair and makeup to end with. We chose for a backdrop that has something futuristic in it, because the latex together with the makeup compliments each other really well.
So that's it for this weeks blogpost. If you have any questions, remarks, comments feel free to let me know and i'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Have a lovely weekend and catch you all on next weeks update.
A few months back we did an editorial shoot with Owls and eagles. Below i've received the movie from this shooting.
Because we are still working on getting the images published, I can only show you a behind the scenes movie to give you an impression on how we work on these 'Big' shoots.
Two models, two makeup artists, hairstylist, stylist, photographer, two assistants, one person filming and not to forget the people from the birds.
It was a long day of shooting from 13.00 until 23.00 but is was well worth it!
The Behind The Scenes Movie from DoubleTroubleStudios and wanted to share this awesome video with you all. Also below you can find some of the results shot during the workshop. Because it was latex and reflections on the clothes mathers, we decided to do some more complex lighting setups. More in the movie
Hello All, Quick update: Just a retouched result from the shooting with Jamecia Baker.
Simple light setup, one light Elinchrom BX500RI on the right, behind her, gelled with 2 blue gells, to make the blue more visibel and darker. Just a simple 18cm reflector behind her with a grid in, on top of that attached the blue gells with some tape.
Mainlight was another BX500RI with the Elinchrom Deep Octa & Grid on the right side from her, on a low angle point to her.
Questions, comments let me know!
Up to the next shooting, catch you laterz
As you al know, or should know, on March 23th we had our first shooting day! Concept of this day: We (Gunther Frans Photography) arrange a model, in this case Debra Vermeir.
We arrange a makeup artist, and during the day you are free to shoot whatever light setup you want.
If you want hard light, soft light, you got questions, or you want to know something more about Photoshop and retouching, i'm here (Gunther Frans) to help you out with every detail of the shoot. As a result of this the people from Double Trouble Studios made a behind the scenes movie from this day so that people who are interested get a view on how we work during these kind of days.
